Summer schedule - June-August

MDS (Mennonite Disaster Service) is busy doing some preliminary work in Joplin, MO, and other places where all the tornadoes, flooding and storms have been. We will be sharing opportunities to work in the near future.

The June-August issue of Rejoice, our Mennonite daily devotional, is available for free. They are located by the mailboxes.

Needed June-September 4. " We are asking for volunteers to teach summer Sunday school again (9:00-10:00am). Our curriculum this summer covers the parables. All materials are provided. The books we will be using as well as a sign up sheet are on the table in Fellowship Hall. Thanks for your help."

The Danvers Food Bank is in need of food. Bring your donations to North Danvers and the Trailblazer's Junior High Youth Group will see that it gets to the Presbyterian Church.

Mowing It's that time again! The sign-up sheet for mowing is on the bulletin board.

PEACE MEALS NEEDS YOU. If you are 60 years old or older, you qualify for the Peace Meals, which are served in the Danvers Fire Dept. community building Monday through Friday (except for holidays). The program needs more participants in order to keep Danvers qualified. Please consider calling George Schaefer by 12:00 noon prior to the day you wish to attend to sign up for a meal. His number at the site is 963-4083 (home 963-4666). The food is good and nutritious plus it is a nice social time visiting with others at the table, all for the inexpensive donation of $3. Try it, you'll like it!!
If you or someone you know are homebound, meals can be delivered to the house.
A sample menu for the month is posted on the bulletin board in the Fellowship Hall. The Pantagraph also lists the menu for the following week each Monday.

Reminder: Let's save the last two pews on each side for families with young children.

Morning Coffee and Devotions meet on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday mornings of each month.

MARKET DAY. - Market Day paper orders are due to the church by Wednesday, June 8th. Internet orders must be placed before 11pm on Thursday, June 9th. Pick-up is Tuesday, June 14th from 4:30-5:30 pm. Questions call Molly @ 963-2035 or Terri @ 963-4697 or the church at 963-4554.This will be the last sale before summer break so please stock up on your favorites now!

Prayer Concerns. If you have a prayer concern, you can either write it on a piece of paper & give it to the worship leader or Rich, or share it with the congregation before the Pastoral Prayer.

Recycling religious materials. If you have religious materials that are in good shape such as used Upper Rooms, you can bring them to the church and we will send them to an organization called "Love Packages," which recycles them.

June 5-12, 2011

In June we will be praying for the patients and staff of the Advocate BroMenn Medical Center Hospice/Home Health. Hospice/Home Health care provides in home care to approximately 150 patients in a 50-60 mile radius of Bloomington /Normal. Patients range in age from infancy to older adults. Patients in Hospice/Home Health include patients who were born too early, are recovering from illness, or surgery, or are dying.

June 20 7:00am "Trailblazers", our junior high youth group, is taking a trip to House on the Rock, Green Springs, WI.
The cost is $30, They will return by 8:30pm.

June 24 Red Cross Blood Drive. North Danvers will be hosting our fifth annual summer blood drive from 2-6pm on Friday, June 24. The need for blood during the summer months is always great. If you have not yet scheduled an appointment, please contact Steve E. to do so.

June 23-25 Central District Conference Annual meeting at Silverwood Mennonite in Goshen, Indiana. Let Rich know if you would be willing to be a delegate.

June 28 7:00pm Matthew Bucher who has been working for MCC in Egypt for that last four years will be speaking at the Mennonite Church of Normal. Matthew will also be speaking at the Roanoke Mennonite Church on Wednesday, June 29th at 7:00 pm for those who cannot make it on the 28th. This will be a very timely opportunity for us to see what has been happening in Egypt.

July 4-9 Mennonite Church USA convention in Pittsburgh 2011,

July 31 North Danvers hosts the "Ice Cream Social" at the band concert.
